Late Night Date Night… Harry’s for Dessert

We slipped out for a "late night date night" in St. Augustine.  No plans.  We asked our facebook fans for ideas and parked on the Plaza near Aviles... but the music didn't draw us in so we walked on. As if the entrance wasn't enticing enough, the relaxing strum of the guitar lured us... We stopped at Harry's.  The rain had let up for the night, so we were seated in the courtyard.  The heaters kept the "Florida chill" {63*} away. I decided on a Mississippi Mud-tini {tasty- but my favorite remains Rhett's Espresso Martini} and my hubby settled on a {local} Bold … [Read more...]

DUPLO Play areas at LEGOLAND

Most of my Simply St. Augustine blogs are about local food & fun. This is part 5 of a 3 day Road Trip to LEGOLAND Florida and Lake Wales. Start with the drive down here. First, I jotted a short list.  Then I wrote out a longer blog with tips.  But I can't possibly squeeze in all the goodness {like super-clean bathrooms with kiddie-height sinks and no automatic toilets to scare little ones} LEGOLAND has to offer.  May I present LEGOLAND in pictures.  DUPLO play stations... in restaurants, in lines, anywhere a little one may have to wait. Funny pigeon humor for … [Read more...]

Tips to enjoy LEGOLAND Amusement Park

LEGOLAND healthy lunch at LEGOLAND

Most of my Simply St. Augustine blogs are about local food & fun. This is part 2 of a 3 day Road Trip to LEGOLAND Florida and Lake Wales. Start with the drive down here. There was a steady stream of cars arriving just before the park opened (10:00 on Sunday) but the park is new enough that it isn't crowded most days- we drove right in (after paying $12 & waving to all the friendly parking lot attendants!) and parked reasonably close. LEGOLAND Tip #1: Arrive early for great parking & easy entry! If the lot looks full as you approach, you can always pay to … [Read more...]

Harry’s Seafood, Bar & Grille

Last Friday's dinner in St. Augustine was chosen very carefully.  Our party of 6 wandered the streets downtown, but choosing a restaurant was hard with preferences all over the menu and the night so beautiful that walking was a treat.  Being part of a Supper Club, we did not choose dinner lightly.  Enjoying food is very serious business, you know!! Honestly, I was non-plussed when we first picked Harry's.  A predictable & too-rich app on a cold night months before didn't exacly leave me begging for more.  But I knew Harry's has abundant seating after the dinner … [Read more...]
