Kenwood Inn Bed & Breakfast

Kenwood Inn

When you already live in paradise, you don't have to drive far to get away!  Kenwood Inn provided a much needed respite for hubby & me recently.  We checked in as early as allowed and set out to discover the charms of this St. Augustine Inn built in 1865.  I learned that it was built as an inn, so both public & private spaces were gracious. The first surprise was waiting right through our back door... I couldn't wait to enjoy a cup of coffee on our spacious porch.  Two cushioned lounge chairs occupied one end and a table with umbrella & 4 chairs hinted … [Read more...]

Five Guys Burgers & Fries

So, I'm on this quest.  I want to search out the Best Fries in St. Augustine.  It all started as I was enjoying a quick dinner date with my hubby in Jacksonville- at Five Guys Burgers & Fries.  They hand-cut their fries and you can choose between cajun, sea salt & plain.  Some people say they're the best fries around... It was my first time to Five Guys.  Hubby & my date nights are usually more BlackFly and Harry's than burgers & coke- but I said he could pick our date... {famous last words} Ok- review time. I'll make this one quick.  We were … [Read more...]

BlackFly The Restaurant – Great Food on the Island

BlackFly The Restaurant St Augustine

Our interest in BlackFly The Restaurant was threefold: Mike Hyatt - he owns Collage Restaurant downtown, which we love. Could he duplicate that success with a family-friendly menu & atmosphere Vaughn Cochran - Hubby used to talk fly-fishing with this international fishing guide & original Jimmy Buffet band member.  When Vaughn moved his shop from Aviles Street in St. Augustine to Jacksonville, hubby followed.  Hubby loves Vaughn Cochran's fish art in bold colors & couldn't wait to see what a fly-fishing themed restaurant was all about! FOOD - St. … [Read more...]
