Dunkin Donuts on CR210

Dunkin Donuts St Augustine

I know there are Dunkin Donuts all over the place and it may seem strange for me to post about Dunkin Donuts on my "go local" blog.  But here's the thing.  My Dunkin franchise is locally owned and every time we go in, I see the same friendly faces.  They know I'm going to order 6 munchkins for my munchkins and they don't scoff at our teeny we-need-a-lil-treat order.  They usually come in a box of 25 or 50, but this mamma would be crazy to order that many!! Friends, meet the team at the CR210 Dunkin Donuts... well, the ones willing to be photographed! Sometimes … [Read more...]

First Colony Exhibit in Government House

St Augustine First Colony

St. Augustine's First Colony Exhibit in the Government House is a rich experience museum that tells the story of St. Augustine's early years.  Our family explored the exhibit a few weeks ago- here are some favorite memories. We walked from lunch at Taberna del Caballo on St. George Street to the Government House Museum.  I walked a few steps behind because I never want to forget this image of Daddy and his little girls: Our visit to the First Colony Exhibit was my first time inside the gorgeous Government House building.  You'll find the cleanest public restrooms … [Read more...]

Claudes Chocolate and Wine Tasting Market on Granada

**update: Market on Granada has closed. Claude's Chocolates' dessert shop is now utilizing this space.** We arrived for our private Wine and Chocolate Pairing as a Tasting Tours food tour finished their Wine and Cheese Pairing. Both locals, my friend Kim and I didnt need a tour guide to tell us where to head for gourmet chocolate and boutique wine!  I regularly stop by The Market on Granada for Claude's Chocolate.  Now it was time to learn about their wine selection as well. Market on Granada owner, Mark, chose three wines and chocolate pairs for our afternoon … [Read more...]

The CIRCUS is back in Jax!

Jacksonville Circus

The Circus is coming!!  The Circus is coming!!  And this year they're bringing unicorns with them!! Y'all know we have six children.  Our oldest is almost 15 and youngest is 3.  So trying to plan fun family outings can require a lot of creativity!  Last year, we all went to the Circus and I looked down the row to see little sis laughing in big brother's lap at the antics of a silly clown... and he was grinning, too.  That's what the circus is about- bringing all ages together to share in a fun memory!! Well it's that time of year again!  Ringling Bros. and … [Read more...]

Fuente de los Canos in St. Augustine and Spain

Fuente de los Canos St Augustine

I've been to the Visitor's Center in St. Augustine more times than I can count.  I park in the adjacent parking garage all the time and walk the city from there.  Why it took me years to notice this fountain, I'm not sure- but in case you haven't sat on its ledge before, let me introduce you! The Fuente de los Canos de San Francisco was a gift from St. Augustine's sister city in Spain, Aviles.  A plaque next to our fountain explains the connection between the two cities {Aviles was the birth place of Pedro Menendez, founder of St. Augustine} and elaborates on the … [Read more...]

Centro Restaurant and Piano Bar

Centro Steakhouse and Piano Bar St Augustine

Centro Restaurant and Piano Bar is the new St. Augustine Steakhouse.  White tablecloths, a baby grand piano and a rose on each table hint at the fine dining experience they promise.  Could they fulfill the expectations they set when I walked in the door? Hubby and I popped in late one evening during Centro's 2nd week open unsure of whether they'd still seat us. Although the last diners were leaving, we were welcomed without hesitation- what hospitality!  Turns out they're open from noon to midnight daily- it's nice to be able to order from a full menu late at … [Read more...]

Live, Laugh, Love in St Augustine

Playing on the streets of St Augustine

We love where we live. St. Augustine is the nation's oldest city.  It's full of local businesses, cobbled streets, and laughing kids. Well, laughing kids when we parents slow down long enough to let them have fun just being kids. I love that my children find joy in the simple things... and teach me to as well. Whom or what do you love in #StAugustine?  Join the conversation on twitter- tag me @SimplyStAug- or on facebook search Simply St. Augustine! … [Read more...]

Aviles Restaurant

Steakhouse Night Aviles Restaurant

The best parts of my job are meeting the locals that make St. Augustine special and discovering new gems here on the First Coast.  Aviles Restaurant, tucked away in the Bayfront Hilton, is one of those hidden gems I'm happy to recommend now. Here are the reasons why I recommend Aviles and my few reservations as well: One reason I love Aviles is their unique offerings from the bar.  Restaurant Manager Melissa and team have brought some great flavors to St. Augustine like the Hot Dahlia- a drink I recently wrote about as the best in town for First Coast … [Read more...]
