Short version: Do whatever you must to obtain a Happy Cakes Carrot Cupcake.
Before you even walk through the door, you know this is a happy place to be. Playful pink & black decor, toys to occupy little ones while Mamma decides which of the dozen or so treats to choose from, and stylized zebra print high chairs- this is not the Publix bakery.
A friendly cupcake-ista {what would you call her?} pointed out her favorites and helped fill my box with tasty treats. Mocha cupcakes, banana puddin’ cupcakes, carrot cake cupcakes & boston cream pie cupcakes all made the short list along with one Oreo push-pop cake for baby Clara. (It’s 2 mini cupcakes & icing encased in a plastic push-pop tube to keep little hands clean{er}. Brilliant!)
I loved the dense cake (yay for homemade!) and enjoyed trying the filled cupcakes (banana puddin’ especially). I’ll try a latte with mine next time, I think that counterpoint to the super-sweet icing would be heavenly. Really, though, there is absolutely no contest- the Carrot Cake Cupcake is crowned queen in my book! And it’s healthy, you know… made from vegetables… I think I’ll have another.
