The Tasting Room TO GO

The thermometer dropped below 90 for the first time in months this week.  86 degree highs mean one thing- fall is on it’s way!  And what better way to celebrate than a picnic!?!  You choose your location then follow me to this week’s restaurant and I guarantee this will be a gourmet picnic you won’t forget!

The Tasting Room TO GO takes the fresh, delish flavors I love at the contemporary Spanish restaurant, The Tasting Room, and offers them deconstructed.  The artisanal cheeses, marinated olives and cured meats featured in the well-appointed case set this hidden gem apart immediately.

In addition to the gourmet deli case, your TO GO order may include an empanada (I liked the Vegetable- $5), flatbreads or choose from a wide variety of half- or whole sandwiches.

Artisan breads, baked fresh daily upstairs, vary from Sourdoughs to Cranberry-Walnut to creative Artichoke-Fontina.  I brought home two to try (and wasn’t disappointed!)  But it was the Cypress Sea Salt Brownie ($3.50) that won me over.  The salty counterpoint to rich chocolate was decadent.  My only regret is not ordering a coffee from the espresso bar!

Whether you enjoy your picnic at one of their tables under venerable oaks or pack it for a waterfront dinner on the green of the Castillo, The Tasting Room TO GO is sure to please.

We went to the Tasting Room To Go and were re-directed to The Tasting Room, which was open for dinner…”To Go” is a day place, I guess.
The Tasting Room was buzzing with people and live music…the staff was very attentive and personable..food was excellent.

  • I couldn’t resist that brownie when we visited – GREAT. Next time I’ll come hungry and order a sandwich with that awesome looking Russian bread!

    • I totally agree! I usually nibble off the brownie over a few days- they’re HUGE & rich! You & I should grab a meal together sometime- I think we have some mutual fave restaurants! :)
