What’s Over the Bridge of Lions?

What’s over the Bridge of Lions? There is so much more to St. Augustine than just what St. George Street and the surrounding streets have to offer. Don’t miss what’s waiting to be explored on the other side of the bridge! There are a plenty of restaurants, shops, hotels, and entertainment options for kids of all ages.

Restaurants Over the Bridge of Lions

Here are some of the choices that sit over the bridge to try the next time for lunch or dinner…

Be sure to check the hours! Gas and O’Steen’s are both closed Sundays and Mondays and there may be others that are only open selective hours/days.

Hotels Over the Bridge of Lions

There are two hotels that sit on the bayfront at the foot of the bridge with amazing views of the city and bay. Marker 8 Hotel and Marina is a newcomer that offers a variety of rooms and amenities including a marina.  The Edgewater Inn has been a staple in St. Agustine known as an “old world Florida” hotel with a sense of charm and a more personalized stay.  The beautiful views and convenience to the downtown attractions make each of them ideal locations for someone who enjoys a walk into town each day.

Attractions Over the Bridge of Lions

The Lighthouse and the Alligator Farm

The St. Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime Museum and St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park are two of the most loved attractions by kids and adults alike over the Bridge of Lions! When the town is crowded or you need a new adventure, head over the bridge for lunch and tour one or both of these attractions. Old Town Trolley offers a shuttle to their customers during daytime hours to these two attractions and/or the beach. If you miss the shuttle, there is a nice walkway along the edge of the bridge that offers some of the best views of the bay and the city. There are gorgeous shots of the city and the bay to be had from the top of the bridge.

Anastasia Mini-Golf

Need some friendly competition? Have some older kiddos that need something to keep them entertained? Who doesn’t enjoy chasing after the ball as they go into the landscape? As my kiddos have gotten older, we can finally have an enjoyable family game of mini-golf. It used to be torture no matter how many times we all promised not to have a breakdown! When we see the littles throwing clubs or chasing balls all over the course, we feel your pain and secretly laugh inside because we used to be the show of the course.

Be sure to check out the coupon books around town or like their facebook to save money for a special treat at the end. I hear they may have some ice cream for those that promise to have a good time.

The next time St. George Street does not have the food choices or entertainment that meets your needs. Head over the Bridge of Lions and catch a bite to eat before exploring the island. There is so much waiting to be experienced just over the Bridge of Lions. Let us know which restaurant should be tried the next time our friends are in town!
