As all the locals know, St. Augustine is a great place to live. In this part of my site, I share news articles from around the nation where our fair city has been featured. Have you heard the latest?!? Our very own Lightner Museum will be hosting the “Dressing Downton” exhibit!
Exquisite costumes from the hit Masterpiece series Downton Abbey® now on tour!
Downton fans, rejoice! 36 costumes from PBS’ series Downton Abbey are on tour and coming to St. Augustine’s Lightner Museum October 2017 – January 2018. If you can’t wait that long to fangirl squeal, you can head up to North Carolina’s Biltmore Estate for the launch of the costume tour… but with the opportunity to support our local museum, I’d suggest taking in the exhibit when it comes to town. I can think of a lot I’d rather spend my fun money on than gas to North Carolina! 😉 The notecards I use in business correspondence are from the Lightner’s gift shop; definitely plan to browse their finds.
The Lightner Museum is a pretty cool destination even when not hosting traveling trousseaus. I think of The Lightner as our own local Smithsonian- the collections housed inside range from precious to preposterous and are always fun to browse. While there will be a charge for all admissions to the special Downton exhibit, keep in mind that locals get in free to The Lightner between now & then. Add a lunch in hidden gem Cafe Alcazar and you have a fun day of quirky culture at the museum!
