The Best Chocolate in St. Augustine

Nothing says “I love you” like really good chocolate.  Fortunately, I live in a city rich with options: handmade chocolates, frozen hot chocolate, chocolate ice cream, chocolate croissants, chocolate Chocolate CHOCOLATE… no wonder I love St. Augustine! Here’s a chocolate lover’s guide to the best chocolate in St. Augustine!

Everyone has their favorites- these are a few of mine.  If I left out YOUR favorite chocolate shop in St. Augustine, comment below and I’ll add it to the list!

  • Claude’s Chocolate makes the most amazing truffles from the best ingredients!  He is my favorite chocolatier.  Ever.  And his wife Nicole is super “sweet’ too!  The best deal at Claude’s is the sampler- you choose 4 truffles and a piece of bark for under $5.
  • Creme de la Cocoa is nationally recognized as absolutely amazing. Chef Nils has been on The Food Network and pretty much blows everyone who walks in his door’s mind. Whether you’re looking for chocolate truffles made with St. Augustine Distillery bourbon, chocolate cake, chocolate cookie whoopie pies, house made marshmallows to top your chocolate or any other manner of chocolate, Nils has it and does it right. Find them in Uptown St. Augustine.
  • Whetstones is a local chocolate “factory”.  They sell fudge, chocolates and offer chocolate tours.  Their frozen hot chocolate has been called one of the best in the States… while I wouldn’t go across the country for what is essentially a chocolate milkshake, I did find it very refreshing on a hot day!
  • Tour de Chocolate  St. Augustine is home to many amazing food tours.  The company that started it all is City Walks- and their Tour de Chocolate is a great way to taste the best chocolate dishes around town!
  • Kilwins makes fudge right before your eyes at their store halfway down St. George Street.
  • Fudge Buckets is another local fudge shop- on Orange St.  Offering flavors from traditional {chocolate} to outrageous {sangria!}, if fudge is your love, this is your place!
  • Dessert First Bistro is at the foot of Vilano Bridge (by Kingfish Grill) and their chocolate creations are executed with perfection! If you’re looking for a dessert instead of a box of chocolates, try Dessert First!

The Best Chocolate in St. Augustine

Believe me, this list is tried-and-true. I pop in my favorites for chocolate all the time. But when Chris and I staycationed here at home for our 14th anniversary, we made a lot of time for CHOCOLATE! We created our own chocolate tour and I was in heaven!!! This photo (above) is in Claude’s across from the Casa Monica Hotel & facing the Lightner Museum plaza from that trip.

Have fun discovering the best chocolate in St. Augustine for yourself!
