1905 day at Columbia Restaurant

Columbia Restaurant in St. Augustine is celebrating the restaurant’s 107th anniversary this Sunday!  They’re rolling back the prices to what customers may have paid in 1905, when the first of the Florida-famous Cuban restaurants opened in Ybor City.

Note today’s prices on the menu vs. “1905″ prices listed under it!!

A glimpse at this Sunday’s menu:

• Chicken & Yellow Rice “Ybor” – $2.95
• Boliche (eye round of beef) – $2.95
• Merluza “Russian Style” – $2.95  Regularly $19.95!!
• Columbia’s Original “1905″ Salad™ – $1.95
• Spanish Bean or Cuban Black Bean Soup: cup – .50 cents or bowl .75 cents  A bowl is $4.95 on the current menu!
• Sangria: glass – $.95 cents or pitcher – $4.95  What a deal!! It’s $17.95 any other day!
• Flan – $.50 cents
• Richly brewed American coffee – $.05 cents

We’ve been going to Columbia all my 32 years.  I remember special trips there with my grandparents, from Ybor to Sarasota.  My hubby & I continue the tradition by taking our kiddos to St. Augustine’s Columbia Restaurant {<-read the blog there}.  It’s in the heart of historic St. Augustine, iconic in my opinion!

No reservations are available for this special event, so go for the evening and r-e-l-a-x… maybe grab a sangria at the bar while you wait!

How does someone find out what day your 1905 day will be on? I seem to miss it every year. I have lived here for 26 years and I have never had the chance to go. Any helpful hints you can give would be greatly appreciated!!
