A St. Augustine Staycation

Summertime… beach time, pool time, time to read and relax and… Mooom! I’m boooored!!!

You may only be a few days off your schedule before the kids are looking for something to do.  After the pool, after the beach, you run out of ideas.  You’re thinking, “When I was a kid, we’d be happy to be at the beach all summer with just a shovel and a fishin’ pole!”  But they aren’t {you probably weren’t either}.

Well, you’ve come to the right place.  Simply St. Augustine wants you to Love where you live.  This summer, dig a little deeper into the joys of living in St. Augustine.  Let me help you plan your summer St Augustine staycation!!

Over the next month, I’ll share lots of local love in my 31 Days of Summer in St. Augustine series… we’ll start today with…

 Free things to do in St. Augustine

St. Augustine Beach *Splash Park* at the Pier – The Splash Park is a fun spot to cool off without worrying about rip currents or sharks {yes, even perfect St. Augustine has both!}  If you can go on a Wednesday morning, all the better!  You’ll catch the farmers market in full swing and can grab breakfast or lunch from a food truck or baker.

Music by the Sea & Concerts in the Plaza – St. Augustine boasts not one, but two free concerts weekly!  Choose between St. Augustine Beach’s oceanside concert with local restaurants catering every Wednesday or Concerts in historic Plaza de la Constitucion downtown every Thursday – just steps from local restaurants.

Ripley’s is hosting Movies on the Bay every Wednesday & Friday night at 8:30.  You can choose from classics to all-the-80s-kids-will-love-these like Princess Bride and Never Ending Story!

If your favorite flick isn’t on Ripley’s list, check out the St. Augustine Amphitheater’s Night Owl Cinema Series!  Friday nights they don’t already have a concert scheduled, the Amphitheater will show a free movie!  These are recent releases… I can’t wait to see Oz: Great & Powerful!
There are lots of local attractions that are free for locals <-follow that link!  You can visit the beautiful Fountain of Youth grounds, ride the Old Town Trolley free with a paying guest, even wander the halls of the Lightner Museum! {Discounted admission for out-of-towners here: Discounted Lightner Museum Tickets!}

    I lived in beautiful St. Augustine for over 10 yr. and I miss it sooo much. I was a trolley/tour guide and researched and wrote a training manual for tour guides. I walked the length of the beach everyday and many times I returned at night. There is nothing that compares to walking barefoot on the beach at night, listening to the waves and feeling the warm wind. Enjoy it for me, ok?
