I wasn’t sure what I was walking into. I just knew I needed to get in shape.
Resistance bands, weights and mats I associate with exercising. Park benches and curbs used to mean rest. Not anymore! This week I joined some strong women for an early morning workout – Peace Love Boot Camp.

I guess I should give a little background… It’s been 9 years since I took a group fitness class and in that time I have had 4 children. We take neighborhood walks and enjoy the park, but my body is definitely not used to a rigorous workout. {understatement of the year!} As I entered my 30s, that infamous shift took place and I realized it was time for some intervention. It was time to meet Sonya. It was time for boot camp.
I picked the 6:00 am boot camp slot. I’m home by the time the kids are waking up and can kiss my hubby on his way to work. I’m even up early enough to read my Bible and make my bed now! The women that arrive early (gals only- sorry guys) stretch a bit and then the fun begins.
Did I just say that? Fun and exercise in the same sentence?! *gasp* It’s true! Sonya mixes it up each time- some days we use tension bands, others we’re running cones & using ladders. She always incorporates strength + cardio for a well-rounded one hour workout.
It’s a lot of work and I use muscles I didn’t even know I had… but the hard work will pay off. Right? I’ll let you know in a month or two! {read week 2 here}
