Peace Love Boot Camp – Week 2

Last week, I told you I’ve joined the craziness… I’m doing Peace Love Boot Camp 3 mornings a week at 6:00 am.  {read the 1st boot camp blog here}  I’ve decided to blog it for four consecutive weeks so you can get a clear picture of how this N St Johns County Boot Camp runs- and how you can do it and survive!!  ;)

Sonya, my instructor, has a client-only blog with helpful tips (including nutrition & practical how-tos) and encouragement.  These tips from her blog help me roll out of bed and arrive on time:

How to be on time for a 6:00 a.m. Exercise Class

1) Prepare everything the night before. Put your mat, dumbbells and workout towel in the car the night before. Put a post it note on your keys that says WATER, or go ahead and put your water in the car too. Allie: Don’t forget to lay out things for an ultra-light breakfast… maybe toast with peanut butter or a good quality (low sugar & filler) granola bar for energy & to keep your tummy happy!  Don’t workout on an empty stomach… ask me how I know. ;)

 2) Go to bed as early as possible.  Don’t play on your iPhone, don’t watch TV, don’t play on facebook. Get in bed and go to sleep.

 3) Set 2 alarm clocks.  I was always afraid I would have an alarm clock malfunction.  I had my regular “plug in” alarm clock set and also my cell phone alarm clock set.  I had them 5 minutes a part, just in case one did not work.
Allie’s note: I set my iPhone alarm- I love the crickets- and then also set a “reminder” so I hear a ding when I should be walking out the door.

4) Lay all of your clothes out the night before.  Now this is women’s only boot camp.  We don’t care if you match or not. I once taught a whole class with a gray sock on one foot and a white one on the other. This was back in the big scrunchy sock days too.  No one even noticed until the end of class.  Put out your workout clothes, shoes, sports bra, every single thing you plan to wear so it is ready.  I have known trainers who actually slept in their workout clothes. You don’t have to do that unless you really want to.

5) Mentally prepare and make your workouts a priority!  This is your life, your body, your health!  Crawling back into your bed is not an option.  Just get up and do it.  You will leave class feeling awesome, I promise!

It’s me again.  I’ll be honest- it’s still hard to wake up at 6:00 am, but I do have more energy throughout the day and have found that I can run around with the kids without getting winded so quickly.  My next goal is disciplining myself for a decent bedtime (I’m shooting for 10:00 pm).  Ask me on facebook how I’m doing- I could use some accountability!!

I’m still Boot Camping!  Read the 3rd Boot Camp Blog Post here!
