Art Auction to Support Education

St Augustine Art Auction

Sometimes, the city gets things right.  In the case of the Ancient City Mosaic,  the city of St. Augustine got it very right.  Ancient City Mosaic is a community-wide art project culminating in an auction benefitting student arts in St. Johns County.  Here's a snapshot: Every part of this community project was donated- from the canvases (thank you, Michaels craft store!) to the exhibit space (Wells Fargo) to the display peg boards.  This community-enriching project cost the city no tax dollars but provided a creative outlet for kids & adults alike... and now … [Read more...]

Visit the new Olde Towne Toys at 300 S. Ponce De Leon Blvd! Also, Yard Bird Cafe is now The Blue Hen and it has also moved... it's fun watching this town grow up! I'll leave this post up to keep the memory.** Usually, wait time at a restaurant equals moans and groans from the kids {and from us if it's been a long day!}.  But when parents have to wait for a table at The Yard Bird Cafe, kids will … [Read more...]

Yard Bird Cafe {now The Blue Hen}

Yard Bird Chicken & Biscuits St Augustine

The Yard Bird Cafe has moved and is now called The Blue Hen. They changed names and location but it's the same delish food! Sunday afternoon.  We usually grab leftovers after church and then enjoy our highly protected Sunday Afternoon Nap, but last Sunday hubby had some work to do, so the kiddos & I hit the road.  We discovered something better than a Sunday afternoon nap in a thunderstorm... we tried Yard Bird Cafe. We passed our 15 minute wait quickly at the Olde Towne Toy Shop next door.  I bought a card game {shhh... don't tell the kids it's a learning game!} … [Read more...]

Barbara Jeans Restaurant – Ponte Vedra

Barbara Jeans Restaurant

My BFF & I agree: The best things at Barbara Jean's Restaurant aren't all on the menu... Case in point: bendy straws. Lynda & I eeked out dinner plans last minute... and we arrived just in time.  We only waited about 5 minutes but the line grew even as we were seated! protip: You can try calling ahead, but Barbara Jean's policy is 1st come, 1st served.  Get there early and ask for a table on the deck or an indoor w/view of the intracoastal! Barbara Jean's Restaurant isn't fancy, in fact the commercial carpet is threadbare, but it's a destination kind of … [Read more...]
