Rainy Day at the Beach

Butler Beach – St. Augustine Beach, Florida

morning of June 8, 2012

It’s been a week of bad weather in St. Augustine, Florida.  We’re thankful for the rain- water levels are up again and the garden looks great- but the kiddos {and their mamma} are going stir-crazy!  Today, we decided to brave the rain and have breakfast at the beach.  It couldn’t have been a more perfect day for it.

Do you have any suggestions for seeing marine life like turtles or tide pools? Also, how far is it from St. Augustine to Guana or Mickler Beach for shelling, and do you have suggestions for places to park there? Thanks!

Parking at Guana and Mickler is easy- there are 2 Guana lots with a boardwalk over the dunes and a large lot at Mickler with a bathroom and showers. From downtown to Mickler Landing may be 30 minutes… I don’t drive that way very often so that’s more of a guess than experience. 🙂

If you’re looking for interesting sea life, head South to Washington Oaks Gardens state park. The massive rocks are a unique feature here in FL and sometimes collect some interesting critters. https://www.simplystaugustine.com/beaches/washington-oaks-gardens/
