Did someone say food truck?
Fried Chicken Kitchen is the newest food truck in town making a name for itself. Locals are raving and out of towners are coming back to get some of the freshest southern fried chicken. It has been a busy first month for Spencer and his fiancé Christina getting this up and running, but an amazing adventure meeting people and reconnecting with friends and family.
Local giving back to St. Augustine
Spencer believes in giving back to the local community by using locally sourced ingredients. He is a 4th generation St. Augustine native and is thrilled to be back home after 6 years of being in the corporate world touring the Eastern Seaboard. Fried Chicken Kitchen has been in the making for over a year trying out old family recipes with friends and family at special events. They offer catering or special orders for pick up. Be sure to call ahead with any special requests.
What is all the fuss about this fried chicken?
We recently stopped in at Fried Chicken Kitchen at their location on US1 to give them a try. There were people stopping in from all over. I heard customers raving about how much they enjoyed their chicken at the Vilano Fest or other locations and had to come back! These customers were right the fried chicken was so incredibly fresh and piping hot. There is definitely a difference between what sits under a heat lamp vs. fresh from the fryer. In addition to their chicken, we also ordered the sliders which are simply amazing! Hubby (who doesn’t like anything with a little heat) loved the combination of the datil pepper sauce and coleslaw atop the chicken slider. I am sure he will be back for the sliders.
Sliders landed on the menu by chance…
The sliders actually landed on their menu by chance. Fried Chicken Kitchen unveiled their truck at the Vilano fest in which they entered a slider competition and took home first place. The sliders were such a hit, they decided to add them to the menu. From what I hear, they are a top seller.
There’s more than just fried chicken and sliders!
Each fried chicken meal or slider meal comes with two sides and one slice of deliciously moist cornbread. Click here to check out their menu. Their menu is constantly changing as fresh vegetables come in season. Here are a few of the sides you may find on their menu.
- Mac & Cheese
- Potato Salad
