Local Teens Working to Stop Domestic Violence

Hey friends! When Harrison emailed me about his Ponte Vedra High School club that’s all about local teens working to stop domestic violence, I instantly knew I needed to share this with you. There are many worthy community opportunities in St. Augustine but nothing so important as home being a safe place for all family members. Help raise awareness by sharing! Help provide safety by supporting and show you care by attending. More from Harrison below… ~Allie O.

My name is Harrison Snowden, and I’m a junior at Ponte Vedra High School. I’m also the co-president of the Helping Betty/Hubbard Club. I’m writing to inform you about an event that I have been planning with my friends at PVHS: Teens Take A Stand Benefit Concert & Silent Auction.  The event has been in the works for over a year, and it is an event that is really important to me.

The Helping Betty/Hubbard Club of Ponte Vedra High is passionate about ending domestic violence! Local teens working to stop domestic violence is a worthy cause indeed!

I joined the Helping Betty/Hubbard Club because I wanted to help domestic violence victims and spread awareness in our community. I had no idea how big the problem of domestic violence is within our community. Unlike other issues, people don’t talk about domestic violence, especially not teenagers. Our club started out small, planning only a couple of bake sales and item drives, but we have always wanted to help on a larger scale.

On Saturday night, February 25th, at 7:00 PM Ponte Vedra High School HBH Club will present “Teens Take a Stand”: a benefit concert and silent auction, planned and run entirely by students. All proceeds will be split between the Betty Griffin House of St. Johns County and the Hubbard House of Duval County, both offering shelter and support to victims of domestic abuse. Bring your friends, neighbors, family, and your friend’s neighbor’s family

The event has several really wonderful performers lined up: the one-man-show of Derek Coghlan, local vocalists from Douglas Anderson and Ponte Vedra High, the Splash Dance Team, the 350 Jazz Ensemble, the Sharkappella A Cappella group, and more.

For silent auction items, we have hundreds of dollars in gift cards, a signed football from the Jacksonville Jaguars, 4 tickets to a Jaguar home game of your choice, and more.

Entertainment and a silent auction are some of what you can expect from the coming fundraiser for Domestic Violence Victims.

Tickets will be $15 for adults and $10 for students.  The show will take place in the Ponte Vedra High School auditorium and doors will open at 6:30. Please consider joining us for the event!  If you have any questions you can email me at hsnowden11@gmail.com.  If you would like to make a donation online, you can do so at www.gofundme.com/hbh-benefit-concert.

I so appreciate your support and would be grateful for any help you can offer in spreading the word about the show.  Please like and share our Helping Betty/Hubbard Facebook event!

I appreciate your support, too! If you only give to a few charities this year, this would be an amazing one. Not only will every penny go straight to Betty Griffin & Hubbard House but you’re encouraging civic-minded local teens working to stop domestic violence raise awareness in all ages from High School through adults attending the benefit!
