4th of July Fireworks in St Augustine

St. Augustine will be a busy place Saturday, July 4, 2015- let SimplyStAugustine make your day easier!  I've compiled a list of where to watch the fireworks in St Augustine and also some ideas to keep the kids busy while you're waiting. First, you must know that roads close late evening but even before that it gets pretty congested.  So plan to spend the whole afternoon in town, snag your preferred viewing spot early and r-e-l-a-x.  Repeat after me: I will not honk.  I will not honk.  I will not honk.  ;) Parking is easy getting in to the parking garage if you … [Read more...]

Doing Dishes Paint Your Own Pottery Studio

paint your own pottery cr210

When Andrew's co-op class read Stone Soup, each student painted a special soup bowl. He was so proud of it and ate dinner from it the first night and the second... and then he dropped it. So when I had the opportunity to visit Doing Dishes on CR210 to experience painting pottery, I knew just who to bring with me! Andrew had no problem choosing what to paint. There were plates & platters, bowls, decorative containers... tons of options to personalize! Fuente de los Canos in St. Augustine and Spain

Fuente de los Canos St Augustine

I've been to the Visitor's Center in St. Augustine more times than I can count.  I park in the adjacent parking garage all the time and walk the city from there.  Why it took me years to notice this fountain, I'm not sure- but in case you haven't sat on its ledge before, let me introduce you! The Fuente de los Canos de San Francisco was a gift from St. Augustine's sister city in Spain, Aviles.  A plaque next to our fountain explains the connection between the two cities {Aviles was the birth place of Pedro Menendez, founder of St. Augustine} and elaborates on the … [Read more...]

SWING park downtown st augustine

Kids love St. Augustine and St. Augustine loves kids.  Here's proof- a massive, wooden playground downtown. It's referred to as that playground downtown and the playground by the parking garage and the music playground in downtown St. Augustine.  It's actually the S.W.I.N.G. Project.  St. Augustine's Wish {for its} Next Generation.  And it's a whole lotta fun. This playground has one way in and one way out- and it's a good thing because you will loose your kids in the tangle of fun. There are swings at S.W.I.N.G. park... ... and musical instruments.  Timothy … [Read more...]
