Sail Away on Schooner Freedom

Since 1565, St. Augustine has been a seafaring town. The fort, the cross, the lighthouse, the Bridge of Lions and the low, beautiful skyline of the Historic District are all uniquely appreciated from the water. Since 2001, one St. Augustine water tour has sailed beyond the rest- the premier tall ship Freedom. I've heard it said that a good Cap'n keeps a tight ship. By these standards, Captain Jon is a fine man. His crew is friendly and playful yet respectful. The Freedom is clean and orderly and everything is in its proper place. Once the ship is underway, the … [Read more...]

Corazon Cinema

Corazon Movies Downtown St Augustine

Tucked away at the end of Granada Street is a local gem- Corazon Cinema and Cafe. The cafe opens for lunch at 11:00 AM and weeknight movies start at 7:00 PM but this venue strives to be more than just a movie theatre. Special events, matinees, room rentals, live music and free parking make Corazon an easy entertainment choice in the heart of St. Augustine. Hubby and I slipped down to Corazon on a quiet weeknight for dinner and a movie. We were both relieved that the beer selection went beyond Bud & Bud Lite. He ordered a local brew without question- Bold City … [Read more...]

Top 10 places for family photos in st augustine

Ben is 15. That means 15 years of family photos under our belt- and believe me, it's been a long time since we crammed into the Sears Portrait Studio for a hurried {or should I say harried?} torture photo session. When we moved to St. Augustine, we decided we were more catch us in real life people than say cheese right now, dangit people and thus began a decade of searching for the perfect on-location photography spots. Fortunately for us, St. Augustine offers so many perfect backdrops, you could take a different family photo every day for a year! Fortunately for you, … [Read more...]

If you are hoping to join, contact the Colonial Quarter to see when the next tea time is available! (904)342-2857 St. Augustine's Colonial Quarter is more than a collection of historic buildings to tour.  A step through the heavy wooden gates any day is a step back in time to centuries where hard work all day was necessary for survival. The recent addition of an afternoon tea experience shares a bit of a young woman's experience in British Colonial St Augustine where tea was not an occasional luxury but a daily way of … [Read more...]

Michael Franti at St. Augustine Amphitheatre

Michael Franti

** The giveaways are closed- thanks for participating! ** St. Augustine hosts some amazing concerts and this town knows how to throw a great party. Wednesday, July 30, 2014, the St. Augustine Amphitheatre is doing both when they bring Michael Franti to St. Augustine with the Soulshine Tour. This is the first concert I've ever heard of that starts with yoga and segues into a full concert and a DJ-hosted dance party. Crave Food Truck – Fresh, Healthy and Waterfront!

St Augustine Food truck Crave

I happened upon another St. Augustine hidden gem last week... CRAVE Food Truck! They buy all their veggies at local farmers markets, whip up smoothies, build-your-own-salads, sandwiches and wraps to order and they have picnic tables on the water. locally grown food + waterfront views = awesome food truck! I'm newly gluten-free and while CRAVE doesn't offer gluten free bread for sandwiches (too crumbly), they do make a gorgeous, filling salad! I topped my local greens with shredded carrots, red peppers, candied nuts, pumpkin seeds, goat cheese, red cabbage... as my … [Read more...]
