You'll receive posts in your in-box: click here to subscribe. Flying in a biplane is 1,000 times better than flying commercially.   First, the trim on this beauty is leather and real wood.  Everything about this plane is hand-crafted and it's clear the pilot, Dave, loves his aircraft and what he does.  Dave took the time to introduce us to his plane and my respect grew with each beautiful, … [Read more...]

Get lots of ideas- click here! It was a rainy summer day... again.  The littles needed to get out of the house and the indoor Burger King playground wasn't gonna cut it.  It was a perfect day to experience a 3D movie at the IMAX Theater at World Golf Village. World Golf's IMAX shows 3D documentary movies {1 hour} and also Hollywood special feature movies.  Right now you can choose between … [Read more...]

Barbara Jeans Restaurant – Ponte Vedra

Barbara Jeans Restaurant

My BFF & I agree: The best things at Barbara Jean's Restaurant aren't all on the menu... Case in point: bendy straws. Lynda & I eeked out dinner plans last minute... and we arrived just in time.  We only waited about 5 minutes but the line grew even as we were seated! protip: You can try calling ahead, but Barbara Jean's policy is 1st come, 1st served.  Get there early and ask for a table on the deck or an indoor w/view of the intracoastal! Barbara Jean's Restaurant isn't fancy, in fact the commercial carpet is threadbare, but it's a destination kind of … [Read more...]

Butler Beach

Boardwalk to Butler Beach in St Augustine

I love St. Augustine's Butler Beach.  It's technically in Crescent Beach- about a 12 - 15 minute drive from downtown St. Augustine.  It takes an extra couple of minutes to get there... but it's worth the drive.  Don't miss the turn- almost across from the fire station.  {Handy for accidents... we've had to drive there before!}  This small sign is all that marks the entrance. You can drive on the beach, but we always park in the lot.  This is a  St Augustine Beach with clean bathrooms, a shower and two covered pavilions making it perfect for a St. Augustine Beach … [Read more...]

Kale Chips- who knew?!

Kale Chips Present Moment Cafe St Augustine

The kiddos & I ran errands in Jacksonville today.  When we stopped by Native Sun, look what I found!! Raw Kale Chips from St. Augustine's Present Moment Cafe!  I've been wondering whether to try a recipe for Kale Chips for quite a while now... now I had a chance to taste Kale Chips and support my fave raw restaruant in St Augustine! You'll likely not believe me, but they are really good.  I love the crunch {I'm a texture gal} and they're very well seasoned.  And they're made with pink salt. What's not to love?! Stop in Present Moment and grab a bag- I'm … [Read more...]

St Augustine U-Pick Farm

~ This strawberry farm is closed. The tips for preserving berries are still good!~ It's strawberry season!!!  We have a strawberry bed in our backyard.  It's so fun to walk out and discover a new little ruby gem nestled amongst the deep green leaves!  Ours are sweet but small... and few.  Today, we had enough for strawberries and freshly whipped cream for dessert!  No, not quite a miracle... we discovered the hydroponic strawberry farm at the St. Augustine Flea Market! We were greeted by Mrs. Colleen as we walked into the tent that forms the entrance to the U Pick … [Read more...]
