Rocky Beach at Washington Oaks Gardens

Hi, Simply St. Augustine friends! This post is part of my 31 Days of Summer in St. Augustine series. I’ve done all the research so you can kick back & have fun this summer! Read through all the ideas here.

Today’s tip: take a day trip to Washington Oaks Gardens State Park!  Picnic on the intracoastal, stop & smell the roses and take a relaxed stroll through the water gardens {don’t forget your camera and a lunch!}  Then explore Florida’s rocky beach before heading back to town.

Details at a glance:

  • $5 cash for honor-system admission to beach & intracoastal sides of the state park
  • 8 am – sundown 365 days
  • Bring bug spray for the shady gardens- picnic there to escape the heat of the day
  • Do not plan to swim at this beach! Submerged rocks are dangerous as is the undertow. Gorgeous for walking & exploring!

How far is Palm Coast from Vilano Beach?

It takes us 45 minutes to get to Washington Oaks State Park from my house… from Vilano it’s probably about the same b/c of traffic. Maybe a smidge more. I think it’s worth the drive! But you can’t swim at Washington Oaks. Just go for the gorgeousness & bring a picnic.

We were here a few weeks ago looking at possible wedding venues. It’s a really nice and pretty park. Would take great pictures!
