St Augustine Named America’s Twinkliest Town by Rachel Ray {excerpt}

St. Augustine has been named one of America’s Twinkliest Towns byEvery Day with Rachael Ray magazine.The Ancient City was the top winner in the “For the Romantic” category.

The story by Alex Pecci talks about the more than 3 million lights in the historic district of the “nearly 450-year-old Spanish colonial town.” The photo accompanying the story shows the Lightner Museum glowing during Nights of Lights.

It also mentions taking a ride on the Holly Jolly Trolley, dining on “sustainable comfort food” at The Floridian, and having a drink at the “fun martini bar” at the Casablanca Inn.

“As far as the romance … If Florida were the world, St. Augustine would be its Paris,” said Paul Williamson, St. Augustine’s Director of Public Affairs.

The magazine awarded the below towns for their festive holiday lights in its December issue:

For the Lederhosen-Loving: Leavenworth, Wash.
For the Block Partyer: Brooklyn, N.Y.
For the Romantic: St. Augustine, Fla.
For the Hipster: Austin, Texas
For the Wild Child: New Orleans, La.
